WHY HYDROVAC?

Underground utility damages have an estimated societal cost of $30 billion each year. 76% underground damages are caused by utility strikes. As a trusted PG&E contractor, HP Pipelines is paving the way in Northern California by using Hydrovac technology. This form of technology is considered to be the safest and most efficient while offering the ability to dig around existing utilities, power lines, gas mains, etc. without risking damage to the infrastructure or harm to workers on-site.

Hydrovac technology is eco friendly, more Efficient, less dangerous, less evasive, less expensive and easier to clean.

Hydro Excavation requires smaller crews than traditional excavation and can be done much faster, which can lower the cost significantly. Hydro excavation also comes with fewer risks, which lowers liability and the potential to have to pay for damage or the cleaning of neighboring areas. Instead of running the risk of damaging the land and ecosystems surrounding the project, hydro excavation can be  targeted to only specific areas. This process doesn’t use chemicals or other dangerous materials, which makes for a cleaner footprint. Hydro excavation is precise, which means it doesn’t remove more earth than is necessary. This leads to less restoration to the area and the chance for the environment to bounce back much more quickly.

This Process pulls the dirt straight into a storage tank, which prevents huge piles of dirt blocking the road, or getting in the way of the rest of the construction site. This speeds up the cleaning process but also limits the disruption to surrounding areas.

Hitting Sewer Lines and pipes are one of the biggest risks with traditional excavation that are buried underground. If these pipes are hit or even just nicked, it can cause serious consequences and lead to a time-consuming and costly repair process and even result in  injuries or  fatalities. Hydro excavation is much more accurate and allows crews to avoid underground utility lines with ease. Because this system doesn’t involve sharp diggers or machinery, there is no risk of accidentally even tapping a pipe or sewer line.

Backhoes and Shovels can be dangerous for the crews working projects. Despite the experience, workers can face accidents with unpredictable machinery, or strain themselves as they manually excavate the land. Hydro excavation only uses water and an air vacuum, both of which are very safe. The chances of getting injured or having a safety concern on a hydro excavation project are much lower than on a traditional excavation project.

HP Pipelines has very high standards and a “safety first” motto/mission, which is why hydro excavation technology plays an integral part in this company’s success. To learn more please use the link below to contact us.
